Happy with my new garage doors from Richard Wilcox and smart opener. Technician went through what was wrong with my old doors, and concerns were great enough to bite the bullet and replace the 20 year old doors Install was very quick and installers were courteous.
Had a tech come out to do a simple adjustment and received a bill $128. When I inquired, I was told that "We don't have to tell customers about the minimum fee". Cool. Really crappy way to treat customers and run a business. I will use ANY other business for future garage needs.
On October 13th my spring broke on my garage door, today I had the door replaced Thank you so much it's beautiful!! I inserted before & after photos
Spring broke on our garage door. Guy stopped in to get the size and said he had to order it, ok no problem. Comes back a week later to change it. Charged us 10 hours labor for a total of $2300. Appleton is 30 min away and it only took them 1.5 hours to change the springs. Stay away and find another garage door repair company because these guys are not ethical.
Technician did not do a good job replacing the weather strip on the bottom of our garage door. It is a black rubber tube and he tucked both ends in. However he cut it couple inches shorter than the door at one end. I'm not happy with the service.
I sent a message after hours that we had a car stuck in the garage with a broken spring on the garage door. There was no way to lift the door even with the release cord pulled. A few minutes after 7 I got a phone call that the techs were in at 7:30 and that I was put 1st on the list. By shortly after 8, car was out and garage door was fixed. Can't beat that for service! I am so appreciative.
Had a broken garage door sensor. Called and they came over the next day. The technician was great. Quickly determined the issue. Installed new sensors and had everything operating perfectly in 20 minutes. Bill was reasonable and came a few days after via the mail. Very pleased.
I had a great experience with this company. My torsion spring broke on my garage door and my car was stuck. I called and they fit me in the same day; and a technician was at my house fixing it within a few hours. The technician was very knowledgeable, friendly, and took the time to show me the parts to my door and showed me where to lubricate for preventative maintenance.
We want to thank Matt, Kevin and especially the installation technician, Ethan, for a job well done. We had an awful experience with another overhead door company. After getting in touch with Matt and Kevin, we had our new garage door and system ordered and installed within 3.5 weeks. If you need quality service and response, we highly recommend American Overhead Door.
Garage door broke, a guy came over late in day. He just mumbled to himself as he looked around. I offered to let him use my step ladder. Other than putting greasy fingerprints all over door inside & out, he apparently fixed it. He never cleaned the fingerprints off my white door. 3 days later the whole system broke! Cables came off rollers, door slammed shut at 6:30 am - neighbors probably thought I fired a shotgun. This of course meant I needed a new system! Which was properly installed. I got charged FULL FORCE for both visits! No discount for first breaking my entire system. Call someone else when you need door service.
Update: I centered the chain guide bar, which was 3 inches off. I also reprogrammed the opener so it would close at the right spot. I decided to do it myself because I have a tight schedule. I do appreciate the response from the Manager. We had a opener installed in October 2019, right before we moved in. No one explained anything about how to lubricate or take care of it to anyone...when I got home from work, I was not impressed with the installation as the chain was never adjusted and is very loose. The chain guide/bar is far from the center of the door. The opener is supposed to be top of the line, but is very very noisy..the other opener on the other garage door is 20+ years old and is much quieter. Also, they didn't install any light bulbs, because "they don't come with the opener." I am not impressed. I could have done a better installation job, if I had the time. Now, 2 years later, looks like I'll just do the readjustments myself and see if that might help with the loudness of the opener. Its hard to find good workers and decent service now days. I'm just tired of poor workmanship and wasting my time contacting businesses to correct poor quality installations. If you want it done right, you just need to do it yourself or if you see a review of good work done by a named installer, specifically request that installer. Don't just settle for the first opening available.
Absolutely great service from this company. We had an issue with our existing door. While scheduling the repair, I we also asked for the cost of a new one. The technician was great and fixed our door the next day. We also had a quote for a new door with opener. When there was a delay with receiving the door, they let us know right away. I was actually expecting some sort of delay because I requested a non-stock door and everything is delayed with Covid manufacturing/delivery. The door arrived sooner than the delayed expectation date and they installed it right away. Vey polite technician removed my ancient door and installed the new one. I did not realize how decrepit my old door really was, and super loud. I cannot even hear this door go up or down. I am happy every time I look at the door. Great Job!
Called American Overhead Door because we wanted to upgrade our two doors to those "wood looking" type doors. I was expecting the sales guy (forgot his name) to schedule an appointment, come out and help us select the right doors. Instead he just directed us to a website. This was disappointing for what is certainly a $5,000 - $7,000 purchase. Lazy is another word that comes to mind. I called 2 other fox valley garage door companies and they came onsite and offered suggestions and suggested different doors in various price ranges. So we never got off the ground with AOD because the sales process was basically nonexistent.
One star is too much. The worst customer service ever. I had them come to diagnose whether I needed an adjustment in springs or a new door to go with the new opener. Three days after the 1 1/2 horse opener was installed, it was determined that the door was old and too heavy for the opener. That didn't stop them from opening and closing 12 times causing the gears to be shot. They left the chain off, cover open and error messages on keypad. Called manager and he said no way his technician would open and close 12 times. I have the app and the history. That's why I know how many times it was run up and down even though it was determined the door was too HEAVY. The manager said he talked to his technician whose account of the visit was significantly different. I was told to have a good day. NO RESTITUTION unless I ordered a door for almost $2000.
Still have a smaller gap. NO sure what to do. Maybe a bigger and better rubber? seal. Have been busy doctoring with cancer and other ailments and he wad going to do a followup telephone and I kept forgetting to call him. Technician was professional and fast. Torsion springs were replace promptly and he pointed out where the cables are failing and recommended replacement. Advised the life of the garage door opener was almost up but didn't pressure a replacement. Services Rendered: Garage Door Repair
I don't normally do bad reviews but I am right now!! A couple months ago I purchased a new garage door opener with battery powered back up from American Overhead Door. Power went out, I used the battery ONE time and it instantly started the 30 second apart beeping signifying it was a bad battery per the manufacturer. I contacted American Overhead Door, first they dispute that i had it installed with a battery because they can't find the paperwork. Then they say I can bring the battery in and exchange it. I point out to them that it was installed by them and is under warranty and that they should come and replace it. They then tell me they are not going to come replace it until power is back up!! . They also say that they would need to reprogram the opener and check to make sure the battery is bad. When I tell him that makes no sense, He (Mat) rudly tells me "that's the way it's going to be". Nice customer service!! I don't need a battery if my power is working!!!! I contacted the manufacturer directly. The opener doesn't need reprogramming, everything is stored in the board even when power is lost. American Overhead Door obviousness doesn't know their product. You take one battery out and replace with new battery. That's it. Also, the battery would be bad and need replacing since it has been more than 48 hours without a charge. I have no tolerance for liars and poor customer service.

Not impressed! An installer showed up to replace 2 garage doors. Very testy and rude attitude. When he discovered he would need to add a few new pieces of wood which should be a normal routine when replacing a 30 year old garage door. He tried to pawn the whole thing off on another contractor who had nothing to do with installation of the door. Then within 5 minutes had his tools packed up, and gone off the job. On a Friday. There are 2 garage doors currently missing from the openings leaving the home owners garage wide open for at least the weekend. While the new doors sit there. I highly recommend looking for another overhead door company! This should have been a routine door replacement! There should be no issues with having to add a few blocks of wood for your mounting brackets.

Wonderfully, Kyle was on time, very professional and friendly. He not only balanced the door (tightened springs), he also lubricated everything, adjusted rails, and tightened the chain. The door now opens and closes properly and is much quieter. Services Rendered: Garage door balance
Don't even bother calling this company--they're not reliable. I went to them to replace 2 panels of my garage door. They said those panels aren't made anymore and I needed to replace the whole door. The guy said he would stop by sometime on Wednesday morning...I waited all morning but no one ever showed up! I didn't get a call for another couple weeks and by then, I had found someone else to do the work.
Fixed the cable fine and put on new rollers. However, when the garage door went up it would start falling back down by itself. After two follow-up calls they said there was nothing they could do and that we needed a new opener. I hired AOD to install a garage door at a rental property approx 2 years ago. This May the opener detached itself from the wall and fell on a tenant's car - causing more than $1,100 in damage. After several calls and them telling me there was no reason a garage opener would detach (unless....it did), AOD finally agreed to fix the door opener. The first visit was unsuccessful and after more follow up and them telling me the door was tested and working (when it didn't) - they had to return again to install an additional bracket. Since that time, I've followed up multiple times about the damage to the tenant's car and the company is clearly avoiding me. It has been one month since the incident and AOD continues to avoid my calls and does not return calls after I leave messages. Be warned. They do not stand by their work and choose to avoid a situation rather than resolve it to ensure a happy customer.
Within 15 minutes of posting request, we received a phone call (on a Saturday!). Appointment was set for them to come Monday morning. He was punctual, polite, and fast. The job was done within 45 minutes. Services Rendered: Needed 2 springs replaced on garage door.

Very satisfied with the job that was performed. Tech arrived about an hour before schedule, but called when he was about 30 minutes away, so we were ready for him. He walked in the garage and immediately saw the problem; broken spring. He was very nice and professional. Fixed the problem; replaced both springs. I was really appreciative that they were able to respond the day following my call. The price for the service may have been somewhat high, but I was happy to pay it in order to get the door fixed so quickly. Services Rendered: Garage door would not go up or down. Called a previous provider and they could not get a technician out until a week after my call. American Overhead was able to get a tech out the next day after my call.
