I just had a garage door repair done yesterday. Our door was stuck in the down position because of a broken torsion spring - as such, we needed it to be fixed immediately. Red Mountain charged us $365 to replace the broken torsion spring, plus $245 for an operator bracket, for a total of $610.
I just got two quotes from two other highly reputable garage door companies in Huntsville - one quoted me $190 total, and one quoted me $304. It turns out that the spring is a $60 part, and as for the $245 bracket that Red Mountain scammed me for, Home Depot sells the very same part for $11.53.
I understand that there's a labor charge to be expected, but this entire fix was completed in 40 minutes. At $100 / hour labor, this entire fix should have cost ~$200-250, and Red Mountain charged me $610.
I cannot even begin to tell you how disappointed that I am in this business, and how disappointed I am that I got scammed like this. I would absolutely, under no circumstances, recommend this company.
