Google5What a great garage door company! I had such a pleasant experience from my time on the phone with John to the in person experience I had with Vernon. Garage door repair is a hot business online for lead generators but this is a local, family owned business, whose focus on service and satisfaction is unparalleled. Keep doing what you are doing! We appreciate you on the north shore!

Yelp5Had to write this review based on my recent experience with John Gutiérrez from this company. I had recently purchased a house and was facing issues with my garage opener's remote operations. I called North Shore due to a mailer that had shown up in my mailbox, and John was so generous with his troubleshooting advice without trying to sell me anything. Based on his advice, the issue was traced to the lightbulbs attached to the unit; John said that LED lamps emit EMF that interfere with the remote's signals. Removing those bulbs solved the problem. John didn't get any of my money (coz I didn't buy anything) but he definitely got my admiration and gratitude. Honesty like this is very rare nowadays, and I hope him and his business all success!

BBB5North Shore Garage Doors completed the replacement of our garage door this evening. They did a fine job. Everything fits and operates smoothly. Their installer was friendly and answered all my questions. Each step of the process from requesting a quote to completion of the work was smooth. Yesterday afternoon I had to call and ask to reschedule, either to late afternoon today or another day. They were pleasant and accommodating. I would use them again.

Google1Nutshell: Don't use North Shore Garage Door. I bought a top of the line opener and they installed the garage door sensors improperly, then charged me to come out and install them properly, twice, but they still didn't work properly. The last attempt to fix them was when they sent a technician who made some adjustments and then said the sensors were mounted incorrectly. He said the were supposed to be clipped on, not bolted and one of the bolts was cross threaded. He tried to charge me for the correct parts and the service call. I objected so he just charged me for the service call. A few weeks later the door would not close again. John in the office said the sensors are being bumped causing misalignment even though I insisted the sensors were aligned per the steady green light, and no one touched let alone bumped the sensors. John insisted the green light must be flashing and he suggested disabling the sensors so that the door would close even if something was in the way. I declined knowing the sensors are an important safety feature. He said they do it a lot when the sensors act up. John said he'd send a technician out one more time but I'd be charged $49 for the visit. I said this sounds like a scam. You install it incorrectly, then charge me when it doesn't work, again and again. John said he'd send out a technician one more time and not charge me but then if there is a problem, "find another company to fix it." We arranged a day & time but the technician never called and never showed up. I took John's advice and found someone that came out the same day that I called. He made some adjustments, at the opener, not the sensors. He said the travel limits and the force settings were wrong. When he heard the story of what North Shore Garages was doing, he said, "I stand behind my work 100%. It only took me 5 min. and I was in the area anyway. No charge. Please call us if you need service or a new door." I sure will. The opener has worked perfectly ever since. Be careful, North Shore Garage Doors is part of Garage Door Group/Fix My Garage. I tried contacting Will Santiago the owner but my calls were never returned.

Angi5NSGD quickly replaced our garage door in less than a week. Our original garage door used suicide springs, and the pullies broke, so we could not open the door. They entirely replaced everything and used the more modern tension springs. We feel much safer and have a more insulated door. Well worth the money spent. Google5We just had North Shore install a new garage door and lift system. Will was very helpful and came out several times to take a look at our current system and recommend options. John was always helpful via email and text with quoting, scheduling, etc. Vernon did a nice job with the installation. What I enjoyed about the experience - there was no pressure to make a sale. They respected my decision-making timeframe. Also they were flexible and easy to work with throughout the process.

Yelp5Worked with Will at North Shore Garage Door. He removed my old, incredibly heavy garage door and installed a new one. He was no-nonsense, professional, friendly, helpful, and affordable. I am very happy with the work and I highly recommend them.

Angi5Great work by North Shore Garage. Will is incredibly friendly and a pleasure to work with. He was priced very reasonably and helped remove my extremely heavy old broken door. I hired them after receiving several other quotes. Will had the winning personality and no-nonsense plan. I highly recommend North Shore Garage Doors. Services Rendered: Garage Door Replacement

Google1I cannot recommend this company after they misdiagnosed the issue with a hefty price tag and then proceeded to upsell us to a new garage door. We contacted Northshore Garage Doors after our garage door would not go down. They arrived quickly and told us that we needed a new opener (aka, motor) and two new springs at a cost of $1500+. As an alternative, the technician suggested an all new door and motor, which seemed like a good deal at $3000. After reading the reviews, I decided to get a second opinion from MF Solutions, which is mentioned in another 1 star review for North Shore Garage Doors. MF Solutions diagnosed the issue correctly within 2 minutes--a dirty censor. The motor and the springs were fine. I then wrote a note to Northshore Garage Doors detailing these events. Here is an excerpt from the owner's reply: "We are a small family own business and operate with integrity. When we are at a customer's garage, our experienced Technicians are to diagnose the problem and offer a competitive price. We are not here to mislead our customers...In our system we have his analysis and quote was New Opener $795 Rebalance the door, Garage Door Tune Up $195." It is noteworthy that the repairs mentioned by the owner left out the two springs, which doubled the estimate. More importantly, the owner's reply never addresses my central complaint that the garage door and its parts basically worked all along so, the opener did not need to be replaced.

Google5These folks installed my garage door years back. I was pleased with their service. I had an issue years later gave them a call and they walked me through the fix. Appreciate the help and saving me some $$, really great service! Highly recommend.

Yelp5What a great group of guys. Our door fizzled and wouldn't close and they came out the very next day. Not knowing what to expect they explained it and walked me through the whole thing. Anything g they were doing was spot on. Customer service at its finest with how nice they were. Love our new door and they left us their info to call back foe any reason. Great group of guys!!!

Yelp5My garage door had been making a loud annoying sound. I called two other places to figure this out. Then I called North Shore Grage Doors. The technician came out and figure out the issue. He was very knowledgeable. Although this issue could not be fix due to the installation of the door from another company. I was very pleased with the service, and I would use them again.

Google5After one of the cables broke on the garage door I immediately called the office. Within 5 minutes I received a return call letting me know my service technician Freddy will be able to service the door within the hour. Freddy arrived as expected, friendly but cold. He was able to compete the repair and enjoy a cup of hot coco. Thank you to the office for making this last minute addition to the schedule and thank you Freddy.

Yelp1Very prompt and knowledgeable but sneaky and ultimately very poor value. Service technician sales oriented - made sure I knew of good-better-best options (least to most expensive) - which is fine because they are a business and need to make money but our financial situation is tight (couldn't find work for two years so now going back to school to get a masters at age 62 = four years with zero income) which I explained and I went with good (cheapest option) - to replace burned out motor on one of two doors. Did a great job had me come down to check it out. Asked me to open close repaired door and it ran very smoothly and much quieter than before. Awesome. Then told me to open and close other garage door and it was very noisy in comparison. Then asked if I wanted to pay to have that one tuned up too. Thought about it and finally said yes when he pointed out that another visit would entail an additional service call fee. Tune up cost $125. It literally took him five minutes at most and it was slightly quieter than before when I came down to test it (this time he didn't suggest it). When I politely challenged it - $125 for five minutes of work with minimal result - he said it was because it needed a new motor! Tipped him $15 - why? I don't know. Probably because I am an idiot. Please don't tell my spouse!

Yelp5North Shore Garage Doors recently installed a new door, motor, and tracks as part of an addition and renovation on our home. Will (the owner) came out a few times to make sure everything would be ready to go when the door arrived from the distributor. The back office staff was also available to address any questions I had throughout the process. The door looks great and after a few weeks is working as expected. The business is opening a storefront locally in the near future and I think that will be quite helpful for potential customers in the future to better understand their options when selecting a new door.

Yelp1I signed a contract with NorthShore Garage Doors June 6th to replace a one car garage door. The size was custom and I was told 6-8 weeks. Well it's now November 7th and the project is still incomplete. I do not recommend this business at all. I've been screamed at, hung up on and gotten the run around for the last 3 months. I'm seriously disgusted. At this point I'm going to have to start over. They took my old garage door off, partially completed the projected and I'm being told we're waiting for one panel. In the meantime I can't get into my garage so my car is sitting outside.

Google1I hired north shore garage doors to remove my ceiling chamberlain smart system and upgrade to a wall mount unit. I got mix quote from rep over the phone and tech on-site for installing torsion conversation. And at the end of installation, I asked for assistance with activating myQ system just like I had it on my previous unit. Tech had no experience about myQ. Come to find out I was sold a basic garage motor and myQ was not compatible. When I asked to upgrade they quoted almost same price for myQ smart garage motor vs the basic unit. Why would you sell customers basic motor if the price difference isn't much ($50). I'm a contractor my self and most homes today are all myQ system so you can open your garage using your phone. I was given the run around for exchanging the unit and trying to see if a vendor will accept the exchange. Unfortunately this company is all about ripping customers and charge them arm a leg. I spend $1800 just to get the motor installed in my garage. Also they removed the old unit but never bothered to remove the old garage door sensors. So now I have 2 garages sensors on each side. I gave them the opportunity to work with me and based on my belief they had no interest in making me happy. I highly recommend all viewers to be careful what you request from this company.

Yelp5We've had north shore out to our house a few times. Freddy has helped us replace our sensors and motor. Just recently we were having issues with our door not closing. Freddy came out and helped realign our tracks at no charge. What a relief after being gauged by our hvac company earlier this week. Will definitely recommend them and call them with any other needs! Thank you

Angi1There are big problems in this company. After a guy named Freddy came out to measure the owner /Manager named Will would give me prices that would change every time I talked to him for the same door options. Once he gave me a price on a vinyl backed door on the phone. I tried to get him to send me a written quote on it three or four times but he never would. He was soooo nice on the phone but would never put it in writing. It made me feel like I was dealing with crook. He wasted so much of my time. Watch out. Services Rendered: none- The owner /Manager Will would not follow though

BBB1The reviews on BBB basically are my story too. I bought 3 doors and 3 Liftmaster garage door openers several years ago from West Suburban Garage Doors. Had no issues with the original install. One of the garage door openers broke and the code was for a motor issue. Called West Garage door- tech came out and confirmed motor issue which has a lifetime warranty. I was told they would need to get the part from Liftmaster first. I called back several times and talked to **** who was the manager and heard all kinds of stories. I was informed they order the part from liftmaster - never received any tracking number. Called several times - **** said he would call be back which of course he did not. He only called back one time to tell me he was phone on hold for over ***************************************************************************** 7 weeks later I called Liftmaster - they answered the phone in about 4 minutes, extremely helpful, the service rep had me do several thing to check the garage door opener and said it was the logic board - and he would send it out. I received the part in about 3 days - he was right and he gave me simple instructions on installing it myself. Also had no information that any one had contact them for a part- Liftmaster had my warranty information registration. What a waste of time dealing with this multiple named company - now answering the phone as North Shore. I wanted to call the owner after this happen to let him know what I went through. Of course **** answered North Shore Garage Door, I asked to talked to Will. Apparently Will doesn't have voice mail so I had to call back and leave some message on some answering machine. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. Terrible customer service and impossible to talk to anyone except ****.

Angi5I needed a broken spring on my garage door replaced. When I was contacted by North Shore they said they could fix the problem today and were available until 6pm. Freddy was awesome. He arrived early and was waiting for me to arrive from work. He went over the work and completed the job before I knew it. He was very thorough and made sure the door was balanced and operating properly before he left. A great technician and an awesome person. North Shore will be my first choice for any future repairs. I highly recommend them. Services Rendered: Broken garage door spring.
