After buying a townhouse in 2018 in FoCo, that included a keypad for the double garage door, but no instruction booklet, I needed someone to help me reprogram it and two remotes to a new code. Also, I wanted a different code just for the remodeling contractors, who were slated to start work in a couple weeks, but I wasn't sure the current keypad could handle more then one code (it could). Lastly, the garage door was due for the routine maintenance on the springs, hinges, rollers, and drive belt. There was no mention of those things ever having been done since the place was built in 2007, and the sellers, a young couple in their late 20s or early 30s, didn't know it was something that should be done annually. The home inspector I'd hired had listed this in his report as well. I didn't ask the sellers to do it though, as I wanted to oversee the job myself.
Yelp reviewers helped me find Garage Gadgetry (a.k.a. GG), and some other companies. Getting quotes from all the companies I requested one from took a few days, but that's not uncommon when there's a building boom going on. GG's quote was inline with the other companies. None were over $100 at the time. I hired GG, because they could send someone out the day before the work inside the house was to start, at a time I'd be available too. Everyone else was weeks out, even for this simple, 30 min. job.
I don't recall the name of the man who showed up, but I remember he came a little early, as his previous job had been close by and he'd finished early there. He was clean, though a bit rumpled from working, and friendly. He first replaced the 9V battery in the keypad with a new one I'd given him. Next, he reprogrammed the remotes and keypad, set up a code for the contractors on the keypad, then efficiently did the routine checks and maintenance on the door and parts. He was done in 20 mins. Cost was $80. That's a good price, considering I just paid $150 to have the same things done by a different company at house in Boulder that I'm putting on the market in 2023.
