Gulf Side Overhead Doors was totally service oriented throughout our experience with the company. They scheduled us for installation as soon as they handed us the quotation, even though we weren't willing to commit yet. We phoned GSOD the next day to affirm our commitment to the purchase, and then called again an hour later to stall the installation by a week to allow time for the architectural review committee to approve our application to change the exterior look of our house. GSOD instantly rescheduled to our desired installation date. Gulf Side Overhead Doors kept us in the loop as to when our new garage door arrived in their shop and when the installation crew was arriving. There were no changes in the pricing between the quoted prices at the time of the quotation, and there were no extra fees for chipping away concrete to make room for the new hardware or for accommodating non-level concrete and non-square existing door framing. The installation crew was efficient and obviously experienced at installing many other garage doors. All the work was conducted in a safe and professional manner. The crew was patient with fully answering any technical questions that were asked about the equipment or the process of installing the equipment. They took one small break between installing the door and installing the motor to eat a late lunch. The entire process at the house took about four hours. All the old equipment and packaging from the new equipment was hauled off in the installation truck at no extra charge. There were extra charges that I accepted for asking for an extra car controller and an external controller that weren't in the original quotation. All the controllers were programmed and tested to make sure they controlled the door opening and closing properly. Their last act was to clean up the work area trying to make sure no extra bolts or nuts were left behind. The painting contractor who arranged the competitive garage door bid was impressed enough to consider taking on Gulf Side Overhead Door as their new garage door contractor. For some reason, I was especially impressed that all of the prices that Gulf Side Overhead door quotes already include any applicable sales taxes. It was satisfying that "what you see is what you get".
Services Rendered: Gulf Side Overhead Door Inc. provided an estimate to replace our 24 year old garage door and its opening motor with a hurricane rated W4 garage door and more powerful reliable opening mechanism for $1700, fully $600 below another quality competing bid. In addition, new controllers for car use and an external keypad for opening the door without a car controller were quoted. Full compliance with the door manufacturers instructions to apply new 6"x2" lumber around the periphery of the door were promised, and an inspector certified by the state for hurricane rated equipment would provide an inspection and paperwork showing the engineering calculations.
