I had garage doors put in a few years back for over $1000 thinking the expense was worth it since everyone around here seems to favor the company & I like to give local business my $ when I can. The doors were pretty but this past winter I noticed the expensive decorative glass windows were oozing a tan goo which looks awful on my pretty white doors, and not just a spot or 2 but all the way around both glass inserts. I called & sent over all the photos to someone in March 2013 who was going to look into it & get back to be but didn't, I got busy with life & just sort of thought they were working on it. A few weeks ago the second door mechanism snapped (around $220 every time it happens twice so far and of course, they were punctual with that call. Anyway when the guy was here I asked him to look at the goo and get back to me, no word. after I got the bill I called back about the goo complaint and they sent someone here with a razor to scrape it off. The razor scratched the paint but did nothing for the goo & now I'm worried about rust. He went back to the office to see what can be done with warranty & just called me to tell me they are just not going to warranty their work. So now I'm annoyed because I feel that if I wanted crummy service I could have gotten it from some big warehouse do it yourself spot where at least I wouldn't have paid so much $ to be treated this way or spent so much for an inferior product. The thing is I like to go with small businesses who have a vested interest in their community who make their living on their name thinking they will do what they can to keep their name untarnished, this is obviously untrue here. It's not like I mistreated the doors or moved them to an unacceptable spot, this business came to my home, sold me the doors and did all the install. No one else ever touched their product so whatever happened to the doors happened when they had them.
I took the time to put this on here because some items are expensive long term investments & people should know what they are getting. I'm so not happy, won't recommend and won't let them put in the next set which will probably happen sooner rather than later.
2015 update
They did bill but withdrew the charge to us for repairing the mechanism as a good will gesture that I accept. I know people with the non glass doors which look fine so I guess its just best to avoid the glass
