I'm writing this early - new door was just installed. If things pop up as the door ages, I'll update the review. It didn't take long at all to get the door we chose and since it would take a little longer to get, we got our 2nd choice
and like it better - really).
I had to learn about garage doors. (I replaced the opener the first day we moved in here with a LiftMaster and it's great - will be six yrs old in June.)
Opted against windows because in these political times, I don't want anyone to see what we have), R factor insulation (is it worth it ... I don't know yet), metal and door thickness are important. We went with the lowest end door with upgrades (Lincoln 3000 (2"thick vs 1 3/8")) with what appear to be better. People complained about rodents chewing some of the vinyl so we'll see how it lasts.
I looked at Lowes and Home Depot and didn't trust either. I know if they come out and measure, if a door won't fit, you still pay for the measurement. Found Old Forge (on Yelp first then Next-door second). All reviews were decent. Kim (if I have your name wrong, let me know) came out quickly, was very sweet, explained everything. Installation went smoothly.
Someone on Reddit recommended another local company (Haas) that also had decent reviews. We were happy with the communication from Old Forge, the speed, Kim's knowledge level and we don't feel ripped off. That happens too much these days.
My biggest concern is the reviews are great and they're for repair jobs. We'll see how the garage door does.
