We purchased Pella windows twenty-five years ago when we built our home, and recently we discovered nine of our 31 windows had failed or were failing. We wanted to match the new replacement windows with our existing ones, and Pella was the only company that had the beauty and look that we wanted still after all these years. We visited the Louisville branch store and were pleased with the look, durability and feel of their double-hung windows. We called and initiated the purchase of nine new windows.
I cannot with all honesty say that our experience with Pella was without bumps in the road. It started out very well. Our upfront meetings went smoothly. We were pleased with our salesman and the initial pre-installer that came out to examine our windows. They were courteous, accommodating and professional. They both told us that our old windows would be easy to remove with no damage or removal of our existing jams or trim necessary. We were happy and excited to get our new windows.
Unfortunately for us, Pella tried out a new installer. This installer was inexperienced, never removed an existing Pella window before and did not appear to have competent methods of installing new windows either. They were not respectful of our home, could not communicate well with us due to a language barrier, and irreparably damaged our existing finished wood jams. Pella left the installer with us with no supervision and very little direction. When things weren't going well and there were problems, we had no one to address it with on site. We ultimately had to halt the install halfway through and request a more experienced installer. We received no follow up. We waited for over a week until I had to initiate communication. I am not satisfied with the operations/management team at Pella during this stage in the process and the runaround that ensued, and I am still waiting on ordered window trim and missing grills, however I am sitting here now with an end result that I am completely satisfied with.
I am giving a review of five stars for a couple reasons. The first, but not main reason, is that I love my windows. They are beautiful and complement my home. The second and main reason that I am satisfied with my Pella windows can be named, and that name is Tommy Masticola. Pella management finally came through and brought in their "best installer" from Lexington, Kentucky to rectify problems and complete the job. Tommy showed up at my door and within minutes, I could tell that he was my guy. Professional, RESPECTFUL, experienced, personable, efficient, reassuring and HONEST with loads of integrity AND a great crew! The knots in my stomach subsided. I relaxed and let Tommy do his thing. Perfect....really just excellent work. If there was a problem, he explained everything. He was upfront and told me there was too much to be done in one day. He came back on a Saturday, his day off, just to make sure I was pleased and the job was done right to my satisfaction.
What started out great and quickly turned to a disaster, ended up with a pleased customer. If you have Pella replace your windows, make sure you ask for Tommy Masticola as your installer. You will be more than pleased. This one's for you, Tommy! Thanks for a job well done.
