So, having a garage is pretty awesome. Cars are protected from the elements and neighborhood baseballs/footballs/whatever. Problem is, they are used a few times every day coming in and out of the house and to work.
My girlfriend went to work this morning, and the garage made a weird noise, but I thought nothing of it, as its also super windy today, and thought maybe something blew against the door.
I went to run errands today and.... the door wouldn't open more than an inch or two.
There was an Overhead Door sticker on the door, so I called them. The woman asked me what was wrong/what I noticed, and we decided it was probably the spring(just an FYI, if your spring is in two parts its broken), and she put me on hold and told me there was a guy in the area who was finishing up a job and then h'ed be over. I got a phone call about 20 minutes later, saying a guy would be at my location in 15 minutes.
I met him outside, he gave me a price and I told him that would be fine.
Fixed it in about 30 minutes or so, I paid and away he went.
I noticed one review on here stating that he felt ripped off because he paid way more than the parts were . First of all, I googled the parts for my door, I know what it would cost.
I then googled how to fix the spring. Every single site starts off with "this can be a very dangerous job, make sure you know what you're doing" , and in addition, there are some specific tools needed to fix the problem... so I really don't think the charge was too bad.
