The heading for this company is "The Company you can Trust!" Thats laughable. I called Chris because my garage door wasn't closing. It would take several attempts via the remote or wall switch to close the door. It would begin to close then would open again, very frustrating. So Chris quickly came out to check out the problem. He walked into my garage and looked that the opener and said, "What year was this house built?" I replied, 2006. So he responded, "Your board is fried. These openers only last about 15 years. To replace the board is only a couple hundred dollars less than a new opener. So I would recommend replacing the whole thing that way you have a brand new unit." Sounded reasonable enough and made sense, I supposed. Chris said to have a new belt driven unit with 2 remotes and a outdoor pad with install was $625 and could be installed today. Wow, okay I said let me check with the wife and ill get back to you. I went online and saw the same/similar unit(s) he wanted to sell me came all together in a kit. The belt driven opener, key pad, 2 remotes etc. for $279. $279! I said shoot, for that price ill install it myself and save over $300. But wait, it gets better. I thought to myself, I should call someone else and get a second opinion, just in case. So I called a garage door company out of Westport, D&D Overhead Garage Doors. They came out the following day and I explained everything to him. He said okay and he bent down to look at the sensor/eye that shoots across the door and he slid it over an inch, inch and a half and told me to try closing the door. And guess what? Its worked perfectly since and he didn't even charge me! It literally took him longer to drive down my driveway than to fix the problem. The story keeps going, stick with me. So I shook this techs hand and thanked him a million times and he graciously smiled and appreciated it. I told him that Chris at Mt Hope Door was going to charge me $625 for a new opener and everything else. He busted out laughing and said "HOW MUCH?!" I reaffirmed the $625 and he said "I can install the same opener for you for $400." $400! Mt Hope Door wanted $625! I get paying for labor but thats ridiculous! Either way, the moral of the story is, I will never recommend Mt Hope Door or Chris to anyone. He's out there trying to rip people off and pay for his fancy new F350 dually. The funny thing is, if Chris would've gave me a reasonable price to install the opener I wouldn't have thought twice or called someone else. But he wanted to be greedy and take advantage of someone so now he gets zero business from me or my associates.
Services Rendered: My garage door wasn't closing, had him come out to diagnose the problem and provide an estimate.
