Yelp5Great service - scheduled for next day online, super easy, tech was early (when does that happen?!?) and kind and competent and did a great job solving our problem at a very reasonable price.

Yelp1Back in 2019 we had our garage door opener replaced. We went with what we were told by the tech to be the best in the market, Lift master MyQ. At first the product was great. Within months the features IE: remote closing, wifi etc. stopped working. So it doesn't work. No one seems to be able to help with this. But not only did that not work but we have had multiple calls because it throws codes and the garage door won't open and close properly. A year after getting the garage door opener installed the springs supposedly stopped working so they were replaced. To the tune of $285. The opener that was installed a year earlier was $747. Since the springs we have had numerous calls because the door once again not opening/ closing properly. Every time they come out the techs play the blame game on the prior tech not doing something right. In Sept of 2023 there were 4 service calls. Same story. Now march 2024 same issue. The tech replaced one spring telling me that again the prior tech installed the incorrect springs. That they were too small. So he replaced one. So now there are two different sizes. The door is working for now and I'm told like always I won't have any more issues. So I'm told the incorrect springs were put on but yet I still had to pay $225 for the service call. The funny thing is in 2019 the tech that installed the opener is the one that came today and had nothing nice to say about previous technicians. So apparently he was talking about himself. Be careful before using this company and this opener unless you like aggravation and just throwing money away.

Yelp5My garage door was all about opening, but every time I tried to close it, it bounced open again. The builder installed an OHD garage opener, so I figured I would call them first. They had the availability to send someone the same week (within several days), but unfortunately that was too soon for my work schedule. The scheduler was super accommodating and got me set up with an appointment on a near date that I could be home to greet the technician. He called before arriving and gave me a 20 minutes heads up. I greeted him, explained my situation - a door that just wanted to be open - and the first thing that he looked at was the wires stating (I have a garage port as in carport with door facing alley) squirrels like to chew the wires. Guess what!? I had wires chewed into on both sides of the door. Once he pointed out the first location, I was able to find the mirror issue on the other side of the door. He did not stop there! He inspected all wires, the housing, and after repairing the damage (luckily only those two spots) the door was opening and closing again smoothly and quietly. You pay a flat rate for him to come greet you - $96 - and then they charge in 15 min increments for the work. I would say that getting my garage door repaired in 15 min just as winter is setting in, for less than $150 was a deal and much cheaper than an electrician coming out. He also sprayed the gear chain thing and the wires with a lubricant. He sprayed the wires to deter the squirrels and told me about a squirrel/rodent deterrent that Home Depot sells. Would call them again in an instant with any future garage door needs! Oh, also I've had this garage opener for over 10 years and this is the first 'glitch' it has had. Not bad OHD, not bad.

Yelp1No. Not true. Everyone I spoke with was rude and would not listen to my concerns. It was not a sizable discount. It was only 200 dollars and that was only because they didn't do the top sealant.

Yelp5Overhead Door made a maintenance visit after I installed new garage door lifters. I noticed that the bigger door was out of balance and wanted to have the spring adjusted and both doors inspected. Made an appointment using their online portal. Short lead time, nice! Five days between scheduling and the visit. I got two calls after that. One to confirm the appointment and one to answer a question. Both calls were from a live person on a weekend! So, easy to schedule, responsive dispatch staff (amazing in this age of poor customer service), decent appointment window (between 2pm and 6pm, there are many different time intervals to choose), and nice service technician (we had a weird and crabby one with another garage door company). I'm happy with the experience all the way from scheduling to the final work. Only glitch was that they couldn't process my CC payment because no cell connection on their device. Highly recommended!

Yelp1Service was great when they installed a new garage door opener and collected a check for over $750. Suppose to have a year warrant. The keypad totally quit working 8 months later. They say they have no record of me purchasing the keypad, so it will cost $300. Where the hell did the keypad come from if I didn't get it from you. I didn't have one before

Angi1This could not have gone any worse. We wanted to replace the opener on our wall and the keypad outside. They asked what brand we had and we told them it was a Craftsman. The fist guy comes out and replaces the keypad outside. He left without testing it, and of course, it didn't work. Then, he didn't have a wall unit in his truck that was compatible with our opener, so instead of advising me of this, he simply installs what looks like a 1930s doorbell on my wall without even consulting me. They send the same guy out a second time, and he couldn't fix the keypad again. We thought that the third visit worked. They installed a new wall unit and outside keypad. About 9 days later, the wall unit starts flashing and beeping incessantly for no reason. When we called again, they wanted to charge us for an emergency visit if we wanted someone to come out urgently to shutoff the incessant sound. So, we are now scheduling a 4th visit. They either shouldn't be attempting to fix Craftsman products, or they should provide more training to their technicians, as 4 visits to fix a wall unit seems extremely unreasonable. This has been a nightmare! Services Rendered: Keypad and opener replacement

Angi2The company responded quickly which I gave an A for. I was about to go out of town and had to get to the airport and they came out in 20 mins. Charged me $128 to get my car out. However, they told me I needed a brand new garage door and tried hard to get me to pay $1775 right there. I had someone else come out and they said I just needed a new cable and that Overhead Doors was trying to take advantage of me and make a commission. I am now having my door fixed for $200 instead of paying $1800 for a new one. Not trustworthy!! Services Rendered: Emergency garage door service to get car out of garage

Angi5When deciding to get a new sliding glass door and storm door I chose Overhead Door of St. Louis, because they had given me excellent service on my garage doors for 30+ years. I was leery of going to a big box store and having a handyman install my door and not getting a warranty. Jim visited my newly purchased condo on 11/13 to give me an estimate and help with my selection of doors. The doors were measured twice by 2 different individuals to assure the proper fit. On 11/16 the doors were ordered and approximately 4 weeks later my doors were scheduled for installation. Zack showed up early on 12/20 and patiently lugged my sliding glass doors up 3 flights of stairs piece-by-piece. Zack was very neat - he put covering on my floors and sectioned off the room; he was detailed in caulking and insulation; he was articulate by adding a piece of wood on my threshold for my storm door. Zack communicated well and explained the process as he worked. The end result is that my doors are beautiful are perfectly installed. If you’re considering entry doors, I encourage you to call Overhead Door of St. Louis. Services Rendered: Installed sliding glass doors and storm door

Angi5GREAT! Although I called in mid-morning, they still were able to have a technician (Tee) come out in mid-afternoon to check out everything. Tee was very friendly and knowledgeable. He listened to my description of the problems we were having (the door would sometimes not close after opening (it only happened once or twice in the past couple of weeks) but eventually would work after I played with the door and opener a bit), explained to me what the source of the problems could be, then he began inspecting the condition and operation of the garage door. After ruling it out as a source of the problem (Tee said the door was in perfect operating condition), he next inspected the garage door opener system. After finding no obvious mechanical problems with the door opening system, Tee began disassembling the control unit and explained to me what he was doing and looking for, which I greatly appreciated. When he finished, he said the likely source of the problem we were having was the opener's circuit board. Though the 15-year old Genie garage door opener I have has a lifetime warranty on parts, Genie will NOT ACCEPT the diagnosis from a qualified garage door repair service like Overhead Door to allow a warranty claim. Instead, Genie requires the consumer to call them and stay on the phone with their tech support people for as long as 1-hour while they tell you to perform various steps and tell them what the unit is doing, including how many "blinking lights" the unit displays after certain steps. A few years ago, I went through this convaluted and annoying process with them when the unit stopped automatically turning off the lights after the unit had ran. In that instance, when we got done, Genie STILL REFUSED to allow me to make a warranty claim! I told them I would NEVER buy another Genie garage door opener because a lifetime warranty is nothing if the manufacturer won't stand behind it and when it makes the consumer jump through hoops like this instead of accepting the diagnosis from a qualified repairman. I told Tee that since the unit is still working and only "acts up" every so often, I'll keep using it. But once it starts happening more often, I would replace it. Tee gave me price quotes on several garage door openers Overhead Door sells and installs, and he also gave me a 10% off offer if I decide to replace it during the next year and I buy the unit from Overhead Door and have them install it. Tee explained to me that Overhead Door will install a garage door opener you purchase elsewhere, but the installation cost is probably about $200. I'll have to price the replacement opener both ways (purchase & installed from Overhead Door with the 10% discount, and purchased elsewhere with their installation fee) to determine if there is a appreciable difference in price. But whatever I do, I would personally request Tee to do the job! I really appreciated his friendly nature, his willingness to discuss and explain things to me, and his honesty, Tee never pressured me to buy anything or make any rushed decisions, which is really nice to see these days, Services Rendered: Garage door and garage door opening inspection for problems
