My family and I had the best experience with The Wright Door today (9-7-23). Recently my grandmother's garage door stopped working. It's electronic, so the outside keypad and the garage door openers were no longer working, trapping my grandma's car inside the garage. There also isn't a side entrance to the garage, so the only way in or out is the garage door or breaking this tiny window on the side and falling about 8'. My grandma is also 73, so trying to use the emergency opening key/string thing 7' above the ground was definitely out of the question. I'm 29, but also short and terrified of heights, so I really, really wasn't looking forward to getting on a ladder and trying to tinker with this broken mechanism and figure out what was wrong.
I found The Wright Door on yelp, called the number and was able to set up an appointment for the same day within 3 hours! I cannot remember the man's name I spoke to (I'm so sorry!) but he was so nice on the phone and was really patient when I poorly tried to explain the problem with the garage door. I'm not at all mechanically savvy if you couldn't tell.
He even called when he was 20 minutes away, giving an update. When he showed up, he was extremely nice and personable and was able to reset the garage door, get both garage door openers working, and even showed my mom and I how to release the emergency mechanism in case this happens again. When we asked how much the fix would cost, he said nothing! Nothing! Since it was so simple. We offered to pay for his time and coming out to our home in St. Louis (city), but he wouldn't hear of it. He was so knowledgeable and incredibly kind, and even told us that our current garage door was actually a foot too small for the makeshift garage the previous owners put up. When asked if we needed to change out the door or if that was something he would do, he said that since the door accomplishes what it's supposed to which is open and close from the ground up, without leaving an opening, the mismatched size wasn't an issue.
I really appreciated how he could have gone for the upsell or advised us to make an additional purchase, especially after my family and I were so thankful for him fixing our garage door for free, but instead he was honest and looked out for our needs as the consumer.
I cannot say enough good things about this entire experience! The only thing I wish I could remember was the man's name, because he was absolutely wonderful. Polite, pleasant, knowledgeable, and honest. If we ever have any issues with our garage in the future, we won't hesitate to call again. I don't exactly have a ton of garage-owning homeowner friends, but if you're looking at this review because your garage is having problems, call him! I have lurked on yelp for a long time, but this was the first experience that I HAD to write a review for, so if it sounds like I'm gushing about a garage repair service, you're right. I absolutely am.
So thank you so much for making our broken garage experience into a positive one, my entire family is so, so thankful. I only wish there was more we could do besides post this review!
