Few days ago the OH garage door spring broke down. I remember that few years ago the other spring did brake down. Back then the tech came in quickly and replaced the spring with a new one. He did warn me that the 2nd spring might go and probably needs to be replaced. I forgot to do it. The whole thing was way less that $200.
This time I called Michel. She promptly dispatched a technician. She was the only good person in this sad story.
I also asked her for a quote for a new door.
The tech came in the same afternoon and cut the spring to fix it temporarily. The door closed fine. $190.
When I complained to Michel about this being just a temporary rather permanent fix (unlike the other spring replaced few years ago), they said that they didn't know the spring dimension. Now, that they do, they have to come in again.
Meanwhile I get a quote from Jeff, who insists that I have to replace the door asap ($3000???). I tell him that I want to have it fixed first, without being pressured into buying a new door...
Then the techs came in and replaced the shorted spring with a new one. Another $166..
Then, after they left, I had discovered that there was a sizable gap between the door and the floor, that you can see through. Easy for the rodents to get in.
I complained again. Michel said that it is an easy fix with the adjustment of electric operator, schedules it for the next week. Today tech comes in, allegedly to fix the problem...
He was clearly wound up, repeatedly said that he was not trying to be a jerk, and said that he is not allowed to touch the operator (per boss's instructions, meaning Jeff's?, saying that Michel knows nothing) and I have to change the door. Why did he come in at all is a mistery...
Then, after doing nothing, he leaves.
This is the most outrageous, unethical, practically predatory, behavior of any business i have dealt with over the years. Absolutely unacceptable. Shame on this business.
Finally, after this bitter complaint, Bob had sent 2 new guys to fix the problem. They were polite, professional and fixed the problem quickly, explaining what they had to do.
